Free-plan details checked against each provider's official pricing and help pages on October 8, 2026. This guide is based on that research, not on long-term hands-on testing. Plans change often, so check the linked official page before you rely on a specific limit.
AI presentation makers can turn a topic or a rough outline into a full slide deck in about a minute. That's handy for a class presentation, a pitch or a team update. But "free" varies a lot here: some tools give you a one-time pot of credits, some add their branding to exports, and some only offer a trial that needs a credit card. Here's what the free plans of the best options actually include.
Quick comparison
| Tool | Free AI allowance | Free export | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gamma | 400 credits at sign-up (one-time) | PDF, PPTX, PNG, Google Slides | Credits don't refresh |
| Canva | Up to 20 AI uses, reset monthly | PDF, JPG, PNG | AI allowance shared with all Canva AI tools |
| Presentations.AI | 100 credits | PDF and PowerPoint | Up to 20 slides per presentation |
| Pitch | 100 AI credits (one-time) | Branded PDF | PowerPoint export needs a paid plan |
| Free chatbot + Google Slides | Your chatbot's free limits | Anything Google Slides supports | You build the slides yourself |
1. Gamma
Gamma is one of the best-known AI presentation makers. You type a prompt or paste notes, and it builds a designed deck you can edit.
- Free allowance: Gamma's help center says each new free user gets 400 credits at sign-up, and on the free plan "credits do not refresh". You can earn more by referring others.
- Limits: up to 10 slides per prompt on the free plan. Longer generations use more credits.
- Export: the pricing page lists export to PDF, PPTX, PNG and Google Slides.
- Branding: removing Gamma branding is listed as a paid feature, so expect branding on free decks.

2. Canva
Canva Free includes presentations, a huge template library, and Canva AI for generating designs and elements. If you already use Canva for social posts, this is the easiest place to start.
- Free allowance: "up to 20 Standard or Premium AI uses", shared across Canva's AI tools and reset monthly. Bigger tasks use more of it.
- Export: PDF, JPG and PNG are included on Free. Canva's pricing page doesn't mention PowerPoint export for Free, so check before you rely on it.
- Not on Free: Canva's "Ultra" AI tools, such as designing through conversation with AI.
- Paid option: Canva Pro is US$144/year for one person.

- Free allowance: 100 AI credits, which Pitch says do not renew once used.
- Good parts: unlimited presentations, custom templates and sharing links.
- Export: PDF exports carry Pitch branding. PowerPoint export without branding is a paid feature.
- Paid option: Plus at €10/month billed yearly, with 500 AI credits per month.

5. The fully free method: a chatbot plus Google Slides
If you run out of credits, this approach costs nothing:
- Ask a free chatbot (ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude or Copilot) for a slide-by-slide outline: "Create a 10-slide outline on [topic] for [audience], with a title and 3 bullet points per slide."
- Open Google Slides or PowerPoint for the web and pick a free theme.
- Paste each slide's title and bullets, then add images from a free image generator or a free stock site.
It's slower than a one-click generator, but you keep full control and there are no credits or branding to worry about. See our guide to the best free AI chatbots to choose one.
What about Plus AI and Copilot in PowerPoint?
- Plus AI no longer lists a free plan. It offers a 7-day free trial with 1,000 AI credits, but a credit card is required. Plus AI pricing
- Copilot inside PowerPoint needs a Microsoft 365 Personal, Family or Premium subscription. The free Copilot chat can still write your outline. Microsoft's explanation
Tips for a better AI-made deck
- Give it your content. Pasting your own notes gives far better results than a one-line topic.
- Say who it's for. "For first-year students" or "for a 5-minute investor pitch" changes the tone and depth.
- Check every fact. AI can invent statistics. Replace or verify every number.
- Cut text. AI decks tend to be wordy. Aim for short bullets and say the rest out loud.
